LEGIONS!
We finally did it. We made a website! First off, shout out to Bryan Klausmeyer for his awesome design. We’re really excited to finally rid ourselves of the lame necessity to direct people to MySpace to hear our music. MySpace = TheirSpace. This site is OurSpace.
Uhhhh, anyway. Hope you like the site. There may be some changes in the coming weeks, but the basics are all here: a player that streams the album in its entirety, photos on the homepage, Videos, a self-conscious Bio, a Gig calendar, and this Blog right here, which I will update regularly. And we’ve got nifty links to various social networking sites along the bottom, in case you missed those.
The other big news of the day is that we’ve decided to release our album on the website bandcamp. Today is the one-year anniversary of our record release party in Ann Arbor. In this past year, we’ve reconciled ourselves to the new realities of the music business, and we’ve decided to embrace the future (i.e. being super broke). You can now download our album in high quality, with an attached .pdf file of all the artwork, FOR FREE. Or, if you’re so inclined, you can pay us whatever you want. The only thing we require is for you to enter your email address so we can create a mailing list (just let us know if you want to unsubscribe). It’s very easy to listen to the album off our website or our bandcamp page, but it’s also very easy to download for higher quality, so I highly recommend that you do that. If you’ve never heard the record, put it on your computer and/or your iPod and let it play. It’s dense and extremely eclectic, and I feel comfortable saying that it will yield a lot of unexpected pleasures upon repeated listens. Most importantly, we REALLY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT, even if you don’t want to pay us a dime.
There are a billion links to the download on the site, but just to drive it home: dirtydirtybirds.bandcamp.com.
Coming soon–a Kickstarter page for our first ever music video, for the song Valentine’s Day. My brother Jason is going to direct. I’m working on the perks right now…some of these will definitely end up pretty hilarious.
Alright, legions. That’s all for now. Go download the album and PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD about the download and the website, on Facebook and Twitter and Google Buzz and MySpace and whatever the hell else you crazy people are using when your nose is buried in your cellphone.
